Rush, RuSh, RUSH...

Life reminds me of a freeway full of traffic. There is a posted speed limit, but we are all seeing how far past that limit we can go without getting caught! There are those who try to go the speed of light, many set the cruise at exactly five miles over, and there are some who are just barely inching past the limit trying to save a bit of time. Why are we pushing the limits?
The last year or so I’ve been pushing these limits, and I’ve watched those I’m close to race right along with me. It seems that we all start out the same way, we inch past the posted limit. This is pretty cool because little by little more gets done, or a little more $$$ may come our way, or other things along these lines. We can handle this, so we figure why not crank it up a full five or so over and set the cruise. So, we are on auto pilot. Day in and day out we are doing just enough over our usual load to cover more distance, accomplish more, make more money, have more fun, etc. This is usually the place we stay for quite awhile; then one day we wake up and say, “Hey, why not hit the gas?” If we are getting ahead little by little, why not by a lot?
The problem is that it is almost a given that we will eventually come to a screeching halt. CRASH!!!
I’ve been going in circles repeating this process for years. I’ve finally decided that I need to be aware of when more of anything is not worth it. When will enough be enough?
I think these things as I sit with my Palm at the ready scheduling more and more.
