Bump It!, Nordstrom, and other material confessions...

I did it. I bought a Bump It! I'm sure you are not surprised. After all, I am a confessed shopaholic AND I do like a good hair day. I have to confess that my first attempt at "BIG HAPPIE HAIR" wasn't a success, but I WILL try and try again. I'll let you know how it goes. I'm hoping that it will save me a lot of time in ratting and teasing the hair. Who knows...it may have been a waste of fifteen perfectly good dollars. Here is the website, but I got mine at the Boise mall for less, but you can get it here: https://www.bumpits.com/ . Hey, it could've been worse...I could've said I bought a Snuggie. Those things are so weird. I'm not knocking you if you ARE a fan of the Snuggie, maybe I just haven't been enlightened to the usefullness of the blanket with arms. Please let me know if I'm missing out, after all, I just admitted to buying a Bump It!

Next, The annual Nordstrom's Anniversary Sale. Can I say that this is one thing a shopaholic looks forward to all year long?! I admit that I do arrange my late July and early August schedule around going to this sale. The truth is, I really don't actually BUY very many things. It's just the thought of a sale that must attract me. They send a full color catalog detailing all of the wonderful stuff (which is still usually too expensive for me). However, there are a few things that I MUST purchase for back-to-school. Good shoes are hard to find at a decent price. Okay, okay, probably not THAT hard. But, if you are reading this blog, you may have noticed that its title. So, yes, I'm confessing that at times I am a material girl. If you too have a weakness for name brand goodness at decent prices, you should check out this sale. It is, by the way, the only time I can justify buying my kids Pumas, Keens, or other such brands. I will not lie, they last ALL YEAR!!! So, it's really worth the investment. The other thing I really adore at this time is jeans. If you enjoy a good splurge on fancy pants, check out the sale. (P.S. They alter their pants for FREE!!!) I'm still holding out for my size to diminish, but someday I too will buy some fancy pants at Nordstrom Anniversary Sale prices!! If you search, there are also other heckofadeal items. Serious...even at Nordstrom.

To get to the point...this year it is not working out that I actually visit the store for the sale. I have two, count them ~ TWO, twenty to twenty five page research papers due by next Sunday. So, guess what?? I shopped it online!!! They have a fabulous return policy. Michael will wish I'd never thought of this option. Poor non-material Michael married to a material mom.

Why am I making this post? Because I LOVE to shop. In person and online, at a boutique and a garage sale...speaking of which, my friends and I are getting a garage sale together soon. If you are interested, I'll post info beforehand. ANYWAY...there are a few other places that have killer sales going on for back to school. Check out:

Fred Meyer ~ 50% off summer clearance, Osh Kosh, and teen clothing

Macy's ~ Sale rounders are full to the brim!!!

The Gap ~ NEVER buy at full price, but shop their sale stuff. Online shopping here is great. Markdowns usually happen on Wednesdays. You can go to the store, try stuff on, and then watch it online until it drops. P.S. Friends and Family 30% off discount is coming up. Go in now and ask for your invitation. They usually sell their jeans at a buy one get one half during that time.

Gymboree ~ Again, NEVER buy at full price. Sign up for emails and mailers. Google for codes for discounts. Shop when they offer Gymbucks.

MY FAVORITE!!! TJ MAXX ~ You have to search, but it is cute, cheap, and not what everyone else will have. GREAT for housewares too. Just be careful to look for really obvious flaws. Also, the return policy is strict, so ask before purchase.

American Eagle ~ Great sales right now...check it out!! Online is great too and their kids line, 77 Kids is too adorable! LOVE AE!!

As you can tell, I've got school shopping on the brain. Too bad I don't have a money tree. But, as Stacy and Clinton say, "A few quality items can make the wardrobe!" (If you don't know who they are, go here:http://tlc.discovery.com/fansites/whatnottowear/whatnottowear.html) :)

Good night...
